You could have bruised a tendon or something. Sometimes, you don't feel it right away.
One time, I hit the top of my wrist on a banister as I was going down the stairs. I didn't get a bruise until a week later. When I touched it, that's when the pain started. The pain was from my fingers all the way to my elbow. Turns out I had bruised the tendon in my wrist. The doctor wrapped it in a tensor bandage and sent me on my way. It took about 4 - 6 weeks to heal.

I either think that you are Anemic, I really think you may have Lupus!! My mom has it, she went for yrs. being bruised up all the time, she looked awful there are alot more symptoms that go with it also, peeing all the time, restless sleep, sleeping during the day, others that i just can't think of right now. I carry the Lupus Gene, i found that out in 1993, because they thought I had Multiple Sclerosis, but I have Fibromyalgia instead and that is not fun either!! I bruise all the time and I never know why I get them!! I wish you the greatest of luck my dear!!

You have not mentioned what you do for physical activity or work. You may be bumping things or "injuring" yourself without knowing it. The discoloration is old dead blood. The pain is from some sort of injury, most likely. Calm down and think about what you've done that may have caused your arm and shoulder to be injured. Certainly this will come up at your appointment, so relax. And take care of yourself!
Have your H & H, and coagulation factors checked, to see if you have some clotting disorder or anemia.
