I'm 8 weeks along...any advice on how to maintain a healthy pregnancy? Things i should eat....shouldn't eat, etc? Exercise? Sex? And also, i was a pretty heavy smoker before i found out i was pregnant, i haven't exactly quit cold turkey, but i went from smoking about a pack a day to only smoking 1 or 2 cigarettes a day, is that pushing the health of my baby drastically, or should it be okay, i'm at the point now where i'm not smoking any cigarettes at all, but since i had been smoking one or 2 a day for the past weeks what damage could be done?

Those questions would really be better answered by your doctor. I'm no doctor, but I definitely would not smoke at all! There is always a slight risk of problems even with just a couple a day, so its not worth it. There's really no perfect answer for you. All preg. are different. You may eat healthier than anyone ever has and still have a complicated preg. or birth. Or vice-versa! Just eat what you want when you are hungry, and don't stress over it! As long as your not drinking, smoking or doing drugs, then your not compromising your baby's safety by what you eat. Just enjoy eating while you can! I have 2 children under the age of 2 and I haven't had a decent meal since either was born!! lol

Honey dont stress on your previous smoking. You're making the effort to cut down and it seems as though you have cut back to almost 0. Thats great. Now just concentrate on being as healthy as possible. Clue your doctor in on your prior smoking and you can ask him for medical advice on it, however i'm sure you and your baby will be fine.

As for foods, eat healthy. I found eating multiple smaller meals throughout the day was best for me. But its up to you. Enjoy your pregnancy. If you want sex with your husband have it. If you dont then dont.

CONGRATULATIONS

I suggest you talk to your Ob/Gyn about diet, exercise, sex, etc. to see what works best for you. As for the smoking, you may want to ask your doctor for a referral to a Genetic Counselor. They would be able to discuss the risks of smoking on the fetus in greater detail, as well as any other genetic questions you may have.

You should quit because smoking decrease blood supply to the baby and the baby is not getting any oxygen.
