Am 4 months pregnant and docter said baby should be around my belly button by now but the baby is still really low. Should I be worried and should I stop lifting heavy things like my 8 month old daughter.

since this is your second pregnancy your stomach muscles are a bit stretched out and not holding things in as tight, so for this pregnancy things may "hang" differently than before. I had four children and lifting the little ones besides being uncomfortable at times did not affect my pregnancies. Just be sure you are measuring at the right size during check ups. A good rule of thumb is to listen to your body. It will let you know if you are over doing it.

a pregnant woman shouldn't be lifting anything over 20 pounds. Any concerns that you have about the baby should be taken to the doctor or a nurse. They are the professionals. I carried low for my daughter so it seemed normal. You are still really early in the pregnancy though.

You may be long-waisted (have a longer than average torso for your height). Those measurements are figured up according to average women. I'm short-waisted so I always seemed higher than the statistics said I should be. You should stop lifting heavy things except for your 8 month old daughter. However, you need to develop new strategies for handling her. You should squat instead of bend for things, and you could start off sitting on a stool or chair when you are picking her up...then get up from the seat to a standing position.

The rule of thumb is you can lift things that you normally do before the pregnancy, like your older child. However, you need to start wean him off being carried as much as possible, you won't be able to carry him much longer when you get bigger, and he needs to learn to "share mommy". Baby being low has nothing to do with lifting or not. It just means your placenta is a little low. If that doesn't correct in the later 3rd trimester, you'll need a C-section. MAJORITY of the time, it corrects itself by then. So don't worry 'til then.

It depends on what "really low" means. How many weeks are you and what is your fundal height? It should be 1 cm per week of your pregnancy, but a variation of up to 2 cm either direction (+ or -) is considered normal.

Has your doc said anything about lifting? If not, just be smart about how you lift her.....don't bend over to do it but instead squat and lift with your legs whenever possible so you don't strain your back.

I don't think there is anything to worry about, but it is best if you check with your doctor again. There are some women who just carry low and it is fine. And about lifting weight, it is best if you try to not lift your baby for long periods. I think it would be best to hold your baby sitting down so you do not have to use too much strength.

During my pregnancy, my son was extremely low the entire time. My doctor said that every pregnancy is completely different, and some woman just carry low. If you truly are concerned talk to your doc again. I would stop lifting, but again, ask your doctor.

I would limit the amount of lifting that you do. Espically if you are carring the baby low. If yourare real concerend ask your Doctor or his nurse. That is what they are there for. I work in the medical field and I know they would rather you ask and get professional advice. Congradulations on your second child! God Bless!
