I know...it's almost tragic.
Like everyone else said, it's because of the so-called role models, aka socialites who do absolutely nothing and get paid for it. I am 16, and sometimes I like to watch "The Simple Life" or something like that, but honestly, I do not consider Paris Hilton a role model. Of course, it's easier with me, because I'm older and I pretty much know who I am, but for 12-year olds, it's harder, because they don't know who they are yet, so they become influenced by people they see in the media. And today, we see people like that, unfortunately. And it's also because of the ever-lasting desire to look older. When I was 12, I also wanted to look older, but I didn't wear any make up except for lip gloss. And when I see girls today, it just makes me feel sorry for them. I've learned over the years, wearing make up and dressing trashy won't get you any recognition. When I was 14, I wore a lot of make up, but my guy friend asked me once-why am I doing it... he said girls think guys like them better when they wear make up, but it's not true. And that opened my eyes. Now I don't have to look "perfect" on every possible ocassion. I wear make up sometimes. I learned how to love myself. And that's what little 12-year olds are missing:self confidence. And I can't even imagine wearing skanky clothes, trust me, it's embarrasing. Now I stick to classy timeless pieces, and I feel much better.
Well, before I start writing a book here, thanks for your time.

geez, i don't know where you live, but i rarely see a 12-yr old in mascara. I certainly wouldn't promote that, especially since preteens have awesome skin and don't need makeup. Eeewww. On the trashy part, I think some people just don't have the guidance from their parents and friends. Unfortunately, some girls think that being raunchy is cool, when really it is way not.

it bothers me too. Maybe I was more sheltered, but when I was 12 i was still playing with Barbies. Or like, little things involving boys were innocent though. Not trashy like they are now. I think alot has to do with society today, and whats shown on tv and movies and music videos. Also where are the parents!? don't know...

Because, These day's the media portray's ROLE MODELS ( COUGH!) like
Paris Hilton
TARA REID!
Lindsay Lohan,
And the rest of that trash, & little girl's see that, AS BEAUTIFUL,
I gues they feel like if they're not BEAUTIFUL like them , they don't look good. Sadly their whole conception of beauty is crazy,
There isn't nothing beautiful about a 12 year old dresses like a 25 year old.
I hope to parents that read this get the point that your kids look like sl.uts doesn't matter to me what 12 year old has eyeliner on , it looks trashy.
PARENTS ARE ALSO TO BLAME . FOR NOT SETTING BOUNDARIES AND TELLING THEIR CHILD IT LOOKS DISGUSTING

Because their parents are not taking a active part in their life, helping them make good choices, telling the child NO, letting 12 year olds still play and not forcing them into Adult roles

god i dont know. it makes me sick. half the time they dont even look like they did a good job on the makeup. they just pile it on. i guess the more the better. i was working the other day and i saw a girl wearing a skirt so short you could see the bottom of her buttcheeks. she couldnt have been older than 13 or 14. i think moms and dads should review what their daughters are about to leave the house in. i wouldnt let my daughter leave the house if she was dressed like that. but its the parents fault for letting their daughters buy stuff like that.

because they have idols...you shouldnt have idols to begin with and the ones they do have are trash...Paris Hilton,Britney Spears, Tara reid, the girls next Door ( my 13 yr old sister loves them..terrible) Maybe if they would have a few more better influences and a lot more rules then they wouldnt want to look trashy...my boyfriend always has said classy is better than trashy

I think TV shows are the reason for it. Watch any Nickelodeon or disney channel shows for tweens and u will know. Most kids in that show study in the 6th or 7th grade(which means they r 12/13yr olds) but dress up so much and talk about dating and kissing etc. We let our kids watch too much TV I think. I won't blame the kids.

because they are 12!!!
today 12's are the new 12's. Seems like parents gave up a generation ago, now these kids do almost whatever they want, pretty much making a fool of themselves.

You got no idea where I live it's horrible. Yesterday I saw this girl walking down the street with spandex sports bra and capris she looked like a ****** yoga instructor with five layers of makeup. All the girls that live where I live are a bunch of trashy young girls who want to look like walking sex. I can't wait to get the hell out of here.
