actually, i have two questions;;
1. when applying eyeliner, is it better to make a bigger line but faded a bit, or a dark line but small and close to the eye?
2. which is better and why: liquid eyeliner or just dry, pencil eyeliner??
please answer both and, please, no dumb answers.

1. i usually do a small line close to the eye. sometimes for a more dramatic effect i'll use dark eyeshadow to line my lid with a lighter, thicker line in addition to the eyeliner.
2. i've never used liquid, so i'll have to go with pencil. i hear that liquid has great staying power and is more precise, but it takes some practice.
there's a video on this site about eyeliner, if you're interested:

It depends on what look you ar egoing for.
If you are looking for an everyday look that you can wear to school or work then I would suggest a small line that is close to the eye and soft using powdered eyeliner or a pencil instead of liquid.
If you are going out or looking for a night look, then you can go for anything you want. A soft and sultry look is nice. Soft eyeliner, but dark eyeshadow with a lot of blending and smudging. On the other hand a glamorous look is nice as well with liquid eyeliner that really accentuates the eyes with a brighter shade of eyeshadow. Just make sure that you keep the eyeliner think and have good control while applying.
Overall, just experiment and have fun!

The last question, first: personally dry liner is better...liquid is fine for an evening out to get the dramatic eye but for day use you have more control over the dry pencil in regards to whether to blend, smudge etc.
Now, applying...again, depends on the situation...if you want it dramatic...then a bigger line that fades a bit...if you want it so that you are enhancing your lashes...a smaller one close to the lashes. If you have space inbetween lashes you want filled in...very close to the lash line, even between the lashes is good.
If you want the smokey eye look...a little thicker line smudged using either a finger or a cue tip gives that look.
I agree with the previous answerer who recommended eyeshadow...however, nothing that is very powdery...preferrably one that can be used wet or dry...a good quality eyeshadow is best for this type of application and some may even indicate it recommends its powder for this use as well.
Hope this helps

I believe it's better to have a smaller dark line close to the eye, and I've only used pencil eyeliner, so that's the one I'm going to vouch for.

ok
1. i personally like a smaller, darker line closer to your eye.
2. I like dry pencils, because it is a lot easier to redo than liquid... plus some liquid eyeliner brands run.

i personally make my lines thin near the lashes just to edge of eye - its neither really dark or really faded - just how it comes on - too light u cant see it - too dark u look like u been punched!
and 2 - if u a beginner use pencil. and practise with liquid. liquid is more hard to put on and u need a steady hand to apply it. i still muck mine up from time to time and have to re-do my whole makeup b4 going out and im 24 lol.

it's all about balance i'd try like a medium color eyeliner that is close to the eyes so it's sexy but not slutty. i have better luck with an eyeliner pencil cuz it goes on more even

i like using a pencil and draw one line on top on my lashlne and smudge it and a thin line on the bottem and smudge a little for an everyday look. Other times i like using a sharmp and thin eyeliner brush, wetting the tip alittle and dipping it into eyeshadow and lining my upper lashline with that because its less trickier than liquad liner.

1. i think a slightly faded look looks very beautiful an can emphasize your eyes
2. liquid eyeliner is my personal favorite but its harder to make it look faded so i put on the liquid liner then use a pencil to dab underneath it to look faded
good luck
