I absolutely love it when I'm given a a piece of cheese for ringing the bell! Makes walking through the maze of life so much easier to bear.

I enjoy being rewarded. At the hospital where I work, a patient, patron or staff member can call in a cetain number and expound on how you did an exemplary job. An actual small gold star is then given to the employee along with a paper listing the person's comments of you. I have 2 stars. I love them and am proud. However, I have had people tell me how much they have appreciated my efforts, on many occasions. None of this resulted in a star. But what they have said, means a great deal to me. I don't do things for the glory. I do them because it is the right thing to do. It's always the right thing to help another person out. Not half way,either....ALL the way. My job affords me the opportunity to serve others. I am SO fortunate.

Rewarded? No, not necessarily. But I do like to be recognized, actually make that acknowledged. Even a smile that says they know what you did means a lot.

Yes of course it is a motivation to continue doing better and better.
Nothing let you feel better when someone tells you how good is your performance.

yeah, but I can't depend on it; I have to know in my own heart that I've done well without having to rely on "warm fuzzies" from others, i.e. I can't let my own self esteem rely on whether another person just happens to be courteous enough to acknowledge, because in this world today, most people are selfish egoists and will not say anything to you unless it's something you've done wrong.
