i mean, it's talked about and criticised like it's some sort of affliction... why is this? people with big feet / hands / breasts / penis etc, are not judged negatively in the same way... why is this?

its all about fashion. For example, look at nudes from the victorian period, they were really curvaceous including having a big bum, being shapely was considered a sign of beauty and desired by most women (think of the bustle they wore to enhance their bums). These days a big bum isn't so fashionable but it does seem to be making a comeback with J Lo and others. If you're happy with yourself though i'd try not to worry what other people think, they'll be insecure about bits of their bodies too.

Big hands, feet etc are not something you have any control over. A big bum is usually associated with being overweight, which many people might perceive as being down to lack of self-discipline or greed. Since greed is not a particularly endearing quality it may explain the negativity. I hasten to add that this is not my personal opinion. My bum ain't exactly small!!

Seriously though, I don't think there is any more, I think a big bum is seen as quite sexy by most men now ( ok, ok..not all before I get abused lol ) but most of the men I know do seem to like a large behind on a woman. So..if you have one, show it off with pride, if people don't like it, well..they don't need to look at it ..do they?

Maybe it's because it's linked to the phrase "sitting on your a*** all day" and alludes to laziness? It depends on which country you are from. In African countries it's an asset. Some countries like it because of the "child-bearing" hips!! Also, the media plays a big part. For women, when they put on weight, it goes to the bum area very quickly rather than elsewhere, so women tend to live longer, suffering fewer incidents of coronary heart problems compared to men.

Big bum = poor diet = lazy = unnatractive.
Big bums are not cool if were talking about a big bum and a big body, if someone has a good body with a bigger booty all power to them, coz it would be toned,
Big A.sses that don't get exercise have just got fat in them,

Who says people with big hands and feet are not critizided. I believe some people like Big Bumm, as in Jennifer Lopez and I don't see her complaining about it.

That's just not true. Loads of guys love a big a$s. I don't happen to be one of them, tho I don't like a bony a$s either. Point is there is someone out there who attracted to every different kind of a$s imaginable. Just like you get guys that are into big boobs and guys that aren't (I'm not).

Maybe its because its the first thing people notice when they are walking behind you!
Also there are so many skinny celebrities, that now its frowned apon to have some decent body fat on your body. Its all b******T really! Love your body, keep fit, and eat healthy!
