I had my belly button pierced for like 4 years before i got pregnant on the top and bottom of my belly button. I took the rings out when i started to "grow" in the belly. I decided to put them back in after i had my daughter only to find out that after the moving twice, i lost the rings. I now have 2 very lovely (said with sarcasm) on my belly button. It is not deformed at all, however it does look a bit weird becaues there are still holes there, but i dont think at this point the ring would fit back through.
If i were you i'd have her either call or go to a local piercing/tattoo shop and talk to the piercer there and see if there are any recomendations that they can make.
Congrats on the pregnancy.

If she has had it in for 3 ears than it will not close up at all. She needs to remove it because if she doesn't her doctor will. If she gets really big or if her belly button decides to pop out on it's own the hoop or bar bell with ripp through her skin, My belly button did it, all because I got a stretch mark right through where my belly button was pireced and pop out cam the barbell. Good luck and congrats, and those plastic ones do the same. No her belly button wont be defromed after the baby it will go back to normal unless she leaves that piercing in and it pops out. OUCH thats just more pain that she will have to go throgh and labor is hard enough

if you really want to keep it then visit your local tattoo and piercing shop and pick up a special ring that is made for pregnant women. It shouldn't give you any problems unless it starts to get uncomfortable. I had my belly pierced and I did take it out not knowing you could get a special ring. Now I have a aweful scar where my piercing actually streched! Now if I were to get it done again it would look funny LOL.

I don't see the relevancy to this question are you so concerned about these piercings what if GOD FORBID she has to have a C-Section are you going to say "Hey doc don't mess up the belly piercings" this is a risk women take if they do this prior to having the family tattoos are the same put them in certain spots of the body look awesome but stretch them a time or two and see what they are going to look like YES her belly button is going to change and you can't stop it

Her bellybutton won't be deformed after she gives birth, but by the end of the pregnancy it very well may be flat. It happens so gradually that she will have plenty of time to assess the situation as it progresses and decide what to do then. I had a bellybutton piercing scar from years ago. When my belly button started to flatten out with my first baby it was that scar area that never quite flattened out leaving a "lip" where the scar tissue was. With my second baby (everyone says I'm carrying lower than last time) the scar flattened out and the inside has made a little "lip" or half outie. So, who know what hers will do when she gets there.

I don't see why she wouldn't be able to keep it in. Just do a search on eBay for pregnancy piercings, they have a ton of the long, flexible rings that you can wear while pregnant. I wouldn't try fishing line because if the hole does decide to close up, it will close around the line and either make a smaller hole or cause potential problems if the skin grows around it. I would try a pregnancy piercing first, if it's uncomfortable she can always take it out and get re-pierced if it closes up.

The best way for her to keep it in is to get a PTFE curved barbell for it. The PTFE (teflon) is flexable and moves with her changing belly.
If she takes it out it may close up, it depends on the individual. Fishing line would work but is hard to keep in, PTFE is better as it has the balls on the end to hold it in place.
The navel getting deformed after pregnancy depends on her genetics, go look at her mom's navel for a better idea on what hers will look like.
Congrats on the pregnancy by the way!

She can leave it in as long as it's comfortable; I know one woman who managed to keep hers the whole time because her belly button never turned inside out or flattened out. It's been pierced long enough that it will likely remain open, but if it is going to close up, fishing line would be pointless... the hole would no longer be big enough for a navel ring.

I had my belly ring throughout my whole pregnancy - I asked my doctor if I could keep it in and he said yes - not once did I have a problem with it.
