Your turtle is not lonely. Turtles do not have to have a mate to be happy. The first thing I would need to know is what kind of turtle you have. Also, do you have the proper lighting? It is so very important to a turtle's health to have a light source that supplies UVA/UVB light. That light stimulates appetite and increased activity. Also, if you have an aquatic turtle, you need to have a heater for the water. This stimulates appetite as well. A visit to a herp vet would be in order. Cooked chicken also is very good to offer the turtle. Never feed any raw meat to a pet turtle. A good place to learn more is at www.austinsturtlepage.com

It would help a lot to know what kind of turtle this is.
I suspect the problem is that the basic care is not what the turtle needs. Sadly, there is a LOT of misinformation about turtle care, and the poor things suffer because of it.
I'm going to assume this is a Red-ear slider since that is the most common turtle. This will also apply to Painted turtles and most other 'pond turtles'. If it is a box turtle or tortoise, then you need some different care points.
Basic Pond-turtle care includes:
- A pond that is at LEAST 10 gallons of swimming space per inch of turtle. Most of us go to big tubs or kiddie pools instead of buying expensive aquaria. This is the first big mistake- too many people keep thease poor things in tiny cages, which are hard to heat and keep clean, and cause lots of stress for the turtle.
- A way to heat the water to about 75-80 in the warm areas.
- A really good filtration system, or another way to keep the water as clean as possible.
- Lighting that offers the kind of ultra-violet light called UV-B (which does not go through glass), and which simulates sunlight.
- Basking sites that are accessible, safe, and warm. At least one should be heated to about 90 during the day.
- Food that is really good for it. Another problem we have is that a lot of people feed their turtles the wrong stuff. The safest diet to start with is a high-quality pelleted food. Cheap pellets use less nutritious fillers and stuff to keep the price down. Good pellets are also full of vitamins and minerals the turtle needs. When you have more experience, you can try to add things like live fish or worms.
- A feeding plan that goes something like this: Serving size- 1 to 2 times the size of the turtle's head. Frequency- feed babies daily, young turtles every 2 days, adults every 3 days. Overfeeding causes obesity and dirtier water.
Turtles are not real social, so it does not really miss its cagemate.
Check out the sites below and find the care appropriate to your species and check to see if you are doing things right.
When the have good conditions and their needs are met, most turtles eat like pigs!
Good luck!

I would recommend taking the turtle to the vets office. It could be something minor, or could be very serious. A vet should be able to take care of the turtle for you and get it back to good health.

It may be ready to "be a bear" or hibernate. Take it to the vet and see what he/she says. I feel so bad for your turtles, if this ones dies too, get two more at an animal shelter or a local pet store. Good Luck.

Well, you should go to the vet first and if there isn't anything wrong with it, try to feed it any kind of tasty vegetable you can lay your hands on.
Once you find out what it likes the best then try mixing the tasty stuff with the normal turtle food.
Also, give it lots of attention! Pamper it!
