I had a trans-vag ultrasound at just over 5 weeks (not much earlier than yours) and saw the same thing...the uterus and embryonic sac. Don't worry - the baby is just too tiny to get on the ultrasound! As far as I know, if you're getting a picture of the yolk sac, that means the baby has implanted successfully and unless they told you otherwise, should be fine. They really only do ultrasounds this early to make sure the pregnancy isn't ectopic or anything, not to look at the baby him/herself...if the yolk sac is where it was supposed to be, you should be fine. Be patient (I know it's hard!) - I'm 18 wks 3 days now first pregnancy, and a couple weeks ago I had another ultrasound, could definitely see the beautiful little boy or girl (don't know yet!) waving arms and legs and stretching his/her neck - so awesome! So don't panic, it just takes patience. It will still be a few weeks before your little one is big enough to see on ultrasound, and that's ok. Relax and good luck!

You are still a little too early to actually "see the baby". If you think about the child is about the size of the tip of a ball point pin so it would be very hard to see. If you saw the yolk sac then everything should be going okay, This is a very common question becuase most women do not realize that you wont be able to see the baby until at least 7 1/2 to 8 weeks and even then you can't hardly tell what it is........................ Just try and relax becuase if anything was wrong your ob would have let you know. I wish you the best of luck!

I have been in a situation similar to yours. About a month ago i went in for my 12 week check up and they put a heart monitor on my belly to hear the babys heart. They could not find the heart beat so they did a vaginal one. The baby was there... just not alive. I was 13 weeks but the baby only registered a 10 weeks. I had a dead baby inside of me for 3 weeks and did not even know. I did not bleed the baby out either. They had to do a D and c and surgically remove the baby from me

I don't really have a lot of experiance with not seeing the baby..but i can imagine with a vaginal ultra sound it is possible, and if you went back a week later and saw the baby then, i wouldn't worry about anything. I know it is tough and scary...just requestion frequent ultra sounds..and try not to stress to much..

I couldn't see my twins until 8 weeks on the ultrasound, and that was at a fertility doctor who specialized in nothing but IVF and ultrasound. RELAX...... you keep this up it's going to be a LONG winter for you!! :)

I wouldn't freak yet. Sometimes it takes a little time to see the baby...hang in there...you'll see the wee-one on screen in no time.
