What is the difference between Alpha Hydroxy and Beta Hydroxy in a face lotion ?

I use Neutrogena day lotion on my face and Oil of Olay anti-wrinkle night cream. Any suggestions or advice ? I have combination skin (T zone).

alpha hydroxy have very tiny molecules,it penetrates the skin rapidly. whereas Beta Hydroxy have large molecule so it can not penitrate the skin too deep. so no irritation on the skin.
