I don't think so at all. Benicio Del Toro, Robin Williams, & George Clooney have all won this award and still have terrific careers.

No, look at Denzel Washington. He won a supporting actor Oscar for Glory and then went on to win a best actor Oscar for Training Day.

That is true, many people who win this award never go on to win the "best actor" award even though you think they would be next in line. It's like how a Relief pitcher in baseball will never win the Cy young

I'm hoping that's not true cause Angelina Jolie hasn't won best actress yet.. she's only won best supporting actress.

Well, Haing S. Ngor won in 1984 for "The Killing Fields" and I have not heard of him since.
