what could be the problem????? is there something in hoses? could it be the pipes?

What kind of pets do you have? Dogs? Cats? Fish?

Most hoses that we use are not certified for human (and pet) consumption. The plastic gets hot and some of the chemicals can leech out into the water. If you do not let the water run a long time you could also be giving them stagnant water as it can lay in the hose a long time. Obviously don't do that. The water smell was your first clue.

Does the water come from a well? Well water most often had lots of tiny organisms that can be harmful to humans and pets. For instance we found that our water had giardia in it after 2 of our dogs got sick and one of them died, and the other one almost did.

that means that the water was old and dirty and for all you know the water might be coming from a sewer.
