I'm a penciler looking for work.

I don't have connections, but if your work is good, it shouldn't be too hard to get a job.

Go to a comic book convention - preferably the San Deigo con, but there are others. Bring a portflio of your pencilling work. There will be representatives from the major publishers who will look at your work and give you feedback. If it is really good enough, they may even hire you.

Alternatively, you can find a writer & inker to work with and publish your own comic. When I say "publish," I'm talking about zerox machines and staples here. Then you take your comics to local comic book shops and ask if they will sell them. You might develop a following that way.
