Two weeks ago, I went into the ER cause I started bleeding and cramping. I had just found out I was pregnant 3 days before (I was less than 4 weeks pregnant). They drew my blood and my HCG came back at just under 4. They said I miscarried which I believe. But, they never checked my levels again to make sure that they went down and were not going up. They just assumed I lost the baby due to my levels. I have been having all my pregnancy sypmtoms now and I was wondering if you would take a HPT to see if there was a chance they were wrong? They wont draw my blood again, I already called to see. Or do you think I should just trust what they said. He also said that my cervix was "closed". All answers are welcome. Thank you

I'm sorry for your loss. I've been through it and know how devastating that can be.

My advice is to seek a second opinion. I'm sure that the miscarriage has carried through, however you may need help with getting your system back to normal.

My body thought it was pregnant for 6 months after my miscarriage. It was the worst time of my life. Finally, last November, it let go - it's like going through pregnancy full term! OY!

Best wishes, and I hope you carry to term next time!

Much love.

They should check your levels again. That is how they determine for sure if it was a miscarriage is to check a couple times & see that the levels continue to decline. I had a miscarriage & that is how they determined it with me. If you did not have a D&C then there could be membranes left over that did not come out & that could cause you to have a positive pregnancy test. I know this because I got pregnant again 20 days after I miscarried & my doc did an internal sonogram to make sure that is was a new pregnancy & not left over membranes causing the test to be positive. Ask your doc to do more tests, if he won't go to another doc & get a second opinion. If you do have left over stuff in your uterus is can cause you problems. Good luck.

An hcg level of 4 doesnt make sense, miscarriage or no. By 4 weeks of pregnancy, it should be in the 1000s. So no, I would have to agree that you aren't pregnant by that result. If it helps to alleviate concern, get another HPT. Chemical pregnancies are fairly common (HPT says yes, then find out you aren't after all). Many people don't even think they are pregnant.

ive been sick for 3 yrs dear, and i get a different diagnosis everytime i go in and to this day im still looking for a doc, who knows what they are doing, i would suggest to you to get a second opinion or third or fourth ,then talk to a lawyer u can trust who cares aboutYOU, and see if someone is screwing up physically and legally, if they are ;suing wont really solve anything ,but if you have patience then go ahead because i am in the middle of a lawsuit and can tell u that it stinks and had no choice. The american medical hospitals have become businesses and people go to medical school now just to brag to their buddies and say "im a doctor" and their in it for the money now, its not like the old days when docs were screened and certified properly, the universities are lowering the standards because we want to make the sytem fair , ya know what i mean? Im still sick without a clue whats really wrong with me because I cant find a true doctor who practices for people and not the mighty dollar.

Call them back and demand that you want another blood draw. You are the patient and your paying for it, not them, so why do they care. I had to use that approach for some blood work and I got what I wanted. You can also try using an over the counter PG test and see what those results are. Did you follow up with your OB/GYN? Do that if you havent already. Some women have to have additional procedures after a miscarriage.

If you are having problems , I would go to see another doctor. I hate to sound blunt, but it is possible that you may have had a partial miscarriage- they need to check to see if you are carrying a baby or if you mightn eed a D&C because the miscarriage was not complete. Don't be afraid to ask questions or keep asking for tests. The doctors may have gone to school but it is your body and no one knows it better than you. If oyu feel something is wrong, keep talking until someone listens.

i don't think thee cervix has anything to do with it this early in tghe pregnancy... i would take a hpt. b/c sometimes, yes, doctors are wrong..... but i would like to fair warn you that you can have a false pregnancy, this is where you make yourself believe you a re pregnant. but take a test and find out.... if you have a dollar general store near you go get a $1 test from them... that way you don't have to spend a lot of money! And YES they work, taht's how i found out i was pregnant with my son! good luck to you! write later and lemme know how everything turns out!

I would definitely go to a doctor and push the issue of them taking a serum pregnancy test. You could have an ectopic pregnancy (tubal) which can result in the rupture of your fallopian tube which could result in some very serious problems including bleeding to death. Do not back down be very insistent about this. It could be your life.

Doctors are human too and can also make mistakes. If I were in your situation, I'd double check especially if things were going on like you said. Talk to your dr and tell him/her what you are experiencing, go get a HPT as well and go from there. Good luck.

Try going to your OB/GYN instead of the hospital. She/he can do an ultrasound and let you know. If not, go to a new doctor all together and tell them you think you are pregnant without all the other details. They will let you know for sure. Hope that helps!
