No, but they're benching the big guys...

Look at their lineup...
No Damon, no Giambi, no Posada...Nick Green at SS.

Wow...I never thought the Red Sox would be a team that we would "rest up" against.

We used to rest up FOR the Red Sox...

What a difference a weekend makes. I love baseball.

Torre said yesterday prior to the game Jeter would DH on Monday. Posada always gets the day game off after a night game in most cases. Giambi could also use the rest, and Wilson is better on D at first anyway. (Lidle puts the ball in play)
Damon is still nursing the broken bone in the foot, so he has regular day's off. Too bad, though, because Damon's a .309 v. Bernie who's a .211 lifetime off Boomer.
Green is good in the field, but can't hit.

Still a great line up:
Cabrera
Jeter
Abreu
A-Rod
Cano
Wilson
Williams
Fasano
Green

If you look at the Yankees' schedule, they are playing 21 games in 20 days without a single day off for rest. After this game, they travel to Seattle and then to Los Angeles. I think Joe Torre is resting his players. Though I want to see the Yankees sweep in Boston, I think it is more important the players are rested so they are fresh when they play the rest of the season and get into the playoffs. I still have a feeling the wildcard team will be coming from the Central Division so if the Yankees don't win their division, they may be out of the playoffs.

It's certainly not "on purpose" to lose. It's on purpose to rest up Damon, Giambi and Posada. Also, don't forget they're going to Seattle to play the Mariners, who have lost ELEVEN in a row, so they're do, you would think right? Plus, the M's have the day off today so they're going to be rested tomorrow night when the play the yanks. Go yankees!

FORGET WHAT I SAID; how about them yankees?

Ohh wow, i assumed this became yet another question if the Yankees lost on purpose at present, and that i dont imagine they lost to the Rays on purpose, they basically didnt supply a lot of an attempt at the same time as the Rays were taking section in perplexing all series lengthy

They just need some time out. They've gotta be exhausted.
I'm tired & I didn't even play!
The big guys'll come into the game if they have to toward the end.
However, I wouldn't count the Sox out just yet.
I hope the Sox lose today, but I wouldn't put money on it.
Go Yankees!!!!!!!!!!!!

gotta rest guys sometimes, i dont think they're "losing" todays game on purpose. look at it this way, they already took 4 out of 5 games, if they lose today, its not a huge deal, besides the Red Sox spirts are already crushed. Yankees are aleady in great shape to take that divison...AGAIN! Damn Yankees.....

No, but Damon needed a break, Jeter is DH'ing...remember, they fly to California as soon as the game is over with...after 8 games in 7 days, people need a break.

Nick Green at short is at least a defensive upgrade.

Sorry, Pete, I know that's not actually true, but I thought I'd take a shot at Jeter.

they have to rest some guys, i mean it a day game after night, you know how little rest they got? and also last nights game ended after one. they had to get to the ballpark around 9 in the morning so they only got a little bit of rest. they also played 5 games in 4 days which is VERY tough.

It is wierd, but those guys might be tired, think about, 2 games on 1 day, and no stopping ever since. they've had long games every time.
