Start > Run > type in: cmd
Type in: ipconfig
Write down the IP address of the default gateway displayed in the information on the screen (something like 192.168.0.0)

Open Internet Explorer and type in the IP address where you would normally type the web address
Your router's configuration utility should display on your computer
Look of DHCP. There should be a table there that list the computer names of all the computers that have hooked up to you network. If your neighbor has used your network, his computer's name will be on the list.

If it is, delete his computer from the list
Then go to the security section of the utility and set up a WEP key (password). Without the password he will be unable to get back on your network.

Turn on MAC filtering on your router listing only the computers and printers on your network. There is no way he is getting in then unless he has already written down your MAC numbers from being on your network - unlikely.

If you choose to do the 'password protect' option, you have two choices . . . WEP and WPA. Given the choice of the two, I'd use WPA but I still find that doing MAC filters is the most reliable. There are scanners out there that break WEP and WPA encryption/passwords. Good luck.

Depends on what kind of wireless router you have but what you will need to do is set up wireless encryption.

If you want it done right and have all the network security features set up properly contact CompUSA or BestBuy's Geek Squad both have services where they will come out and set them up for you for a reasonable price.

hey very easy to do here. Just make your network sercure. Most new wireless modoms now come with a WAP number that you need to log onto the network, without it you cant get on. Call your service provider and ask about it.

what form of encryption are you using on your wireless network? if you have nothing at all, then try adding a password (128-bit WEP, or WPA if your router supports it). that basic step should keep out 99% of people who casually use the network of another.

if you have a password already and he has hacked that (yes, WEP can be hacked relatively easily, as hacking goes) - i.e., he is a more serious threat to your network security - then set your router to only accept connections from your computer's network adapter's MAC address. unless he knows how to spoof your computer's MAC address, you should be secure at that point.

if all this is gibberish to you, then call your router's tech support hotline and ask them to walk you through the process of setting up security on your router.

Read through the tutorial below and secure your wireless network. If you have a open network and someone does something illegal guess what it will be you that has to answer to the feds.

very simple
1. do you have a router? is it wireless (wireless modem?)?
no then he is not stealing from you but someone else in the building.
(if you dont have the manual go to the websit of the router maker to download it its normally under support)
if yes then do this. take out the manual for your router or modem
read on the part where it shows you have to get into the modem setup. go into wireless and set it to mac address only. add your own mac address before clicking apply. ( to get your own mac address go to start/run/ type CMD enter. then type ipconfig /all) the physical address is your mac address write it down.
now add the mac address into the router area and click to allow only listed address. now only you can access the the router and your friend is screwed.

on laptops, it scans for availabe wireless networks, and if it finds a network that is not secured, i think you can go on another person's network. So try go get something like a password that you have to enter before using it. that should get rid of this hacker person.

you need to put some encryption on your wireless network. the best way is to create a wep password by loging on to your wireless router by typing in its ip adress and once you set up the wep pasword according to how ever your router manual says he will be locked out.
