I'll start of by saying who's your 1B? And now here comes my answer: Your opponents are even better than you(WOW...I only imagine the team in first place). Drop M. Diaz. You have Pierzynski and McCann, you don't need 3 catchers. And to fill the empty spot, I'd use my theory and add the best probably pitcher everyday then you can have a starting P everyday, but this late in the season, it's more of guess which probable pitcher will be the best in that start(I usually do it by picking the worst opponent) because the good pitchers are taken this late. Some big names that get dropped now and might make an impact to you are
N. Swisser(Asuming your 1B is not that good)
C. Hamels(This kid is on sizzling-fire right now)
F. Cordero(He's the closer for the Brewers now and since joining them he's been right on track and getting SV oppurtunity after SV oppurtunity and he's not failed)
J. Zumaya(From what I see, SOs for you are a weakness, and this guy gets them everyday, he's the set-up man for the Tigers and gets about 2 Ks an inning(About 10 Ks a week) and he'll really help your WHIP and ERA and get a few wins and SVs here and there)
J. Broxton(He's another guy like Zumaya only less known and gets a little less SOs)
Here's what I think,
1. Put Griffey in there instead of Matthews because Griffey is on a HR streak right now
2. You only have one closer, that's not a good thing! And I'm assuming the trading deadline has past so trading for a closer isn't an option, so look out for F. Cordero and I might even consider getting A. Burgos because in your case his SVs will help you a lot, even though his ERA and WHIP are very high.
3. If Jo. Johnson, C. Wang, or C. Hamels are availble, then grab them immediatially!!!!!!!!! Other than that, there is nothing you can really do.
Good luck!!

Hey man!

You're team is like mine...and guess what? I'm 8th in my league too! Nuts! Our teams are similar because they appear to have no holes-all solid all around. Your bench seems kinda week though! Diaz, Mo Pena, Monroe-I think that could be an improvement. Great job with McCann-a gem you found there. Your pitching is pretty good-real good actually. Bedard and Padilla are having great seasons.

I think with our teams, our players are the type who are susecptible for slumps. For most of the year I was in 2nd place in my league and the last month I've dropped from 2nd to 8th because my guys have had huge slumps.

My advice is-for your draft-don't draft players on potential too high. I did that with Jorge Cantu at 2b-what a bust! I think the best bet is to get the best available players, and not worry about position. Have a few power guys, some speed, and rbi producers-try rotating a spot to go for wins and k's, and even risk whip/era at that.

good luck!

.

.. it's not about the players you have .. it's the categories you are covering.

.. I am in first place in all 3 of my leagues. It's not even about baseball .. it's about numbers !!

.. and if you're in 8th .. your season is basically over. Not enough games left to make a difference.

.
.. check which categories you excel in .. and try to trade for categories that you need to improve in. I bet you need some SB.

.. numbers .. numbers .. numbers.

.. now is the time to make a move in a specific category .. whichever will get you the most rotisserie points.
