you can use the security settings under tools. internet options, and enable the content advisor. You then can choose what sites to block.

block them in the hosts file
In windows explorer [right-click on the start button and then choose "explore"]
. . go to your C:\WINDOWS folder, and then under that [inside the WINDOWS folder] go to the System32 folder, and inside that folder, go to Drivers folder, and inside the Drivers folder, open the Etc folder, and inside that there's a file called "hosts" (with no extension). .
double click on it (you'll get a box asking what program you want to open it with (if you have XP, click "select program from a list"). .
and then choose "Notepad" from the list you now see . .
then the Hosts file opens, and you need to (after the last line you see in there), put in an entry that looks like this:
127.0.0.1 chat.yahoo.com
there needs to be at least two spaces after the 127.0.0.1 but before the chat.yahoo.com
then hit enter, and then click "File" (upper left) and then "Save" and then exit out and close all the folders, and now yahoo chat should be blocked

if you have internet explorer you opent the content advisor to block yahoo chats.
other wise download an internet filter to block it
