To register a trademark, that's done either through your Secretary of State for a State trademark or the US Patent & Trademark Office for a Federal trademark.
If you are only conducting business in one state, then a State trademark is most appropriate. If you conduct (OR are planning to conduct) business in at least 2 states OR between the US & any other country, you can file for a Federal trademark.
Prior to investing your time, money & effort into a name, it is strongly advised that comprehensive research be conducted to ensure that the name you're interested in is truly available.
This entails searching the pending & registered Federal and State trademark files as well as the US National Common-Law files. Then, if clear, you can decide if you would like to file for a Federal or a State trademark.
Hope that helps! I wish you much success & happiness in all your ventures!

US Department of Patents...Commission for Trademarks. 1st check if your name and logo has not been trademark already. First one to do so...owns it. Need to come up with artwork as a logo and as well as a name-brand. Work with an attorney who specializes in intellectual property matters. It will run about $2500 total for lawyers fees and government fees. It takes about 4 months from start to finish and you have the ultimate in protection. You can stop web domains from using it by writing a letter. But make sure what you are doing is going to be successful. Otherwise, its just wasting time and money.

Well in order to get a trademarked name you have to pay a tax to the government that is something like $350. But you also have to use the name, but you will because it will be on your clothing. I don't remember how it becomes a registered trademark, i think after time it will eventually become one though.
