I'm doing some early online Christmas shopping. He doesn't really have any hobbies, except for reading and playing computer games. A couple of his favorite games are Morrowind, Runescape, and AdventureQuest, if that gives you an idea. He loves books, and he'll read just about anything. But he switches interests a lot. A lot of my past gifts were discarded a month or two later because he lost interest. I'm stumped!

13-year-olds...male & female...LOVE to shop! Why not get him one of those Visa or American Express Gift cards that act like a credit card and let him get himself something. Or get him a gift card to Barnes & Noble, Borders, Best Buy, etc. He'll have a blast.

If you are old enough to drive, take him somewhere fun as your gift. He's going to get so many presents, yours will get lost in the shuffle if you don't make it memorable. For example, take him to San Diego Zoo's Wild Animal Park,(If you live in So Cal) or whatever local attraction he enjoys or hasn't yet been to. Another idea is taking him to SpeedZone or another racecar type place where he can race his own car if he's at least 5 feet tall. Schedule your adventure for the week after Christmas and give him a card that explains what you'll be doing. Depending on the gift, it might be fun to throw in a little animal figurine or miniature race car to go along with the theme. If I knew what state you were in, I could help more. But planning an activity like this will be a good bonding experience that you will both appreciate in the years to come.

Actually get him a gift card from a book store like Barnes and Noble or Borders--It encourages him to keep reading. I have a 13 year old nephew that I have got him this or gift card to Blockbuster where he can pick his own game or movie--He loves having the choice

I'd say a book would be good, because he can at least read it once. Look on his bookshelf and see if he has a lot of books by a certain author and maybe get one of those. I hope that helps!

I would go with a book, that's always a nice gift....also if he's in to video games i would try one of those...my little brother around that age, and he can't get enough video games.

Offer to clean his room for him for a month (or a week if that's all you can stand!).

Offer to do his chores for a certain period of time.

If you're old enough to drive, offer to drive him and his friends somewhere.

Maybe you could even make a coupon book (so he won't overuse your kindness) with one coupon good for one chore, a coupon good for one cleaning of his room, a coupon good for one drive somewhere, and anything else you can think of. Believe me - this won't be discarded!
