"Free Speech Zones and rubber bullets today, no speech zones and real bullets tomorrow. You got a problem with that? Too bad b***ch, we're running the show. Now get to work, pay your taxes, and keep your mouth shut."

What if everyone in this country stopped paying all their taxes because they disagreed with how the politicians etc are spending their money ie wars, martial law, violating your civil rights, lawlessness of legislators, the lies etc? Would that affect a change in the direction this country is heading?

Thank you for posing this question. Yes, taking that action would indeed affect a change, and that's the type of responsibility that the public needs to take for the direction and behavior of their government. There is zero accountability of the government to the people. None. They do whatever they want, the politicians back them up, and the public takes it, just like a battered wife who's lost her self esteem. Your link is a perfect example of the result of total unaccountability. Shooting people for the fun of it, and then insulting and disrespecting them for it. It reminds me of apartheid S. Africa. Depressing...

Even short of refusing to pay taxes, people can just stop accepting whatever is said and done, and start publicly demanding accountability. Everyone listens to what the press reports on the TV news, and let's the press do their thinking for them. When we know from watching the press in action, that they are the last to challenge the govt or ask questions about the truth. They are the megaphones for our gov't of, by, and for the corporations.

There is a very important film just completed on the topic of your question that you need to see if you haven't already. Check out the trailer: http://www.freedomtofascism.com/

netjr is partly correct. The rest of the story is that of the small fraction paying taxes an even smaller number pay most of them.

What will eventually happen will when it gets down to about 10% paying all the taxes, they will just leave and the government will be bankrupt the next day.

There would be a complete political and economic collapse of the US. Anarchy would result and the U S would be controlled by the people who have a stock pile of guns and ammo.

If they were middle-class Americans they would go to jail - if they were rich someone in the IRS would have their lapstop stolen and all records would be lost!
