Yes you can tan while you are pregnant...as long as your Dr. doesnt have a problem with it. The problem with tanning is letting your Body temp rise, like in a hot tub.

In general, it's not safe to tan, pregnant or not. There was an article in Time magazine a few weeks ago outlining the dangers of tanning in the sun or tanning booths. The article indicated that any more than a few minutes in the sun increases your long term risk of skin cancer. Basically, when you're tanning yourself, you're cooking your skin. Is that really what you want to do to your baby? I'm afraid you'll have to give up the tan (real or artificial) for this season. Maybe after the pregnancy is done, you can look into some of the lotions that can give your skin the illusion of a tan.

Don't use a tanning bed while you are pregnant. That would be very harmful to the baby.
If you want to lay out in your backyard, you won't harm the baby, but you might not get the tan you are looking for. When you are pregnant, the hormones mess with everything about your body and you can get a rather splotchy tan or even permanent sunspots on your skin.
I would advise that you watch how much sun you get while you are pregnant.
I spent the day on a boat without sunscreen while I was pregnant and I still have a light brown patch on my forehead that I have to cover up with makeup (my baby is now 2...so I think I will have this patch forever.)

It is not safe to tan without being pregnant - let alone being pregnant. You will have plenty of time to look good for others, however now is the time to put all of your energy into that baby. If you have a question about being safe you obviously have an idea that this is not the best choice. Stop tanning immediately, and if you have a need to look dark try Jergen's Glow again!

I wouldn't. I have heard that some people have bad rections in tanning booths and who knows what could happen to a baby. This could be the first of many things you will give up for the sake of baby!

I would defiantly consult your Dr. But from what I know, It has to do with your body temperature getting too high for an extended amount of time. It is also the reason that you are not supposed to get into Jacuzzis.

My doctor told me that it was OK to tan after the first trimester. I did, and my daughter is 3 now and very healthy.
