I am asking from an LDC and PCs are fairly scarce over here. So please do not laugh at my asking. Help me also know whether buying a clone laptop which are the most available here, will put me at a disadvantage as compared to if I bought otherwise, which of course is too expensive for me at the moment. Do you hva e the exact technical or legal impendiments I will have opened myself to? Thank you.

Hi...

Pentium M is used specifically in notebooks... cause it's main feature it to "use" less energy to process... that it permits notebooks to last longer... when not connected to the power line!

However... the battery must not be a priority!... For example... if you need a notebook for graphics... and design, sometimes it's preferable to opt for a P IV like a 3.2 MHz... than to opt for a P M with 1.86 MHz... because the time of response of the Pentium IV, is "a little" better!

Relating to clones laptops... I don't understand what that mean... but if you want to say not to buy a Dell, a HP, or a SONY... and your choice would be a non-branched laptop... if the warranty were the same and the processor and RAM as graphics board, were the same... buy a clone!...

My dad's laptop is an HP and my is a Acer... Mine cost half the price (€1,285 against €599) and they do absolutely the same... and... my battery lasts for 4 hours and his only last for about 90 minutes... and the have both 3 months!

:)

Hope have helped.

Jose Couto

Pentium M is similar to the P IV processor but was built to better utilize battery and power usage in laptops. The speed and performance is similar, but you will find faster P IV processors currently than you would Pentium M.

For most software. Pentium M is just fine. I use a Pentium M 2.0Ghz processor on my laptop and it works fine for everything I use and I am an IT guy.

the main difference is M=Mobile designed for laptops since they use a lot less voltage as thre big brother the IV
so that makes the battery last longer.
