If you are living alone or with your parents or married you can still get help. Go to the food stamp office to get started on food stamps and medicade. They will also have a set amount you will get in cash. Some hospitals give the baby the first carseat,ck it out. Go to your local church for help. There are women in need or women in crisis centers that will hlep also. Ask a good friend or two to give you a shower! Ask for just the things like you mentioned. several can go in together to get one nice gift. You can get used baby clothes at thrift stores very cheap. The baby won't be in them long and will grow into a bigger size very quick so don't spend too much or buy too many of one size. If you have friends and family they will be buying gifts and special clothes so concentrate on you just gettin the basics-onesies,socks,recieving blankets, pajamas, diapers, bottles, etc. You can also get baby furniture at yard sales at good prices. Best wishes with your baby. If you need to talk or any other help contact me. I was16 and preg once and know how it is!

Along with the other suggestions, check to see if your county has a local Community Action Agency. Here in NY I work for one and we have all sorts of programs, like a free car seat program, housing assistance, food pantry and a free clothing thrift shop. A lot of people suggested churches, they are a great place to go. I have found that the churches that offer food pantries also tend to offer other services as well. You can search Yahoo, here are two community action agencies I found while searching that are near Carlisle:

Community Action Partnership

Dayton, OH 45408

Good Luck!

I live in Kentucky, and when I had my son, the hospital gave me a carseat. They'll give you one regardless of whether you have one or not. And go sign up for WIC asap. Alot of people may come on here and bash you for being pregnant at 16, but I wanted to tell you you're doing the right thing by stepping up. Congratulations on the baby.

Call your department of social services, the local fire department, churches, homeless shelters. I did not mention Volunteers of America or the Salvation Army because they do not give things away, they sell them. Also call a battered woman's shelter for more leads.I hope social services has offered you food stamps and medicaid. There are also social workers in the hospital who may have sources you can call. Good luck.

You can contact your local WIC office... or a clinic nearby.. also try the nearest freecycle in your area! Watch the local papers and ads for free items. You can also get free coupons & samples and such from major companies online by visiting their websites.. you may be abole to get help from area churches or the salvation army or charities..

Have you applied for Medicaid? WIC? These are good places to go. WIC helps you with groceries and formula and Medicaid will help with Dr's bills and hospital bills. Try going to salvation army or some thrift stores, if you can't get free stuff it will be cheap. Good luck and congrats.

Sometimes the health department or even the hospital can provide a car seat for free. I don't know as far as getting the other stuff free, but maybe a yard sale or consignment store.

Try your local free cycle. I searched on yahoo for "free cycle" and you pick your area and its people posting things they are giving away and also wanted ads for things you want. Only obligation is that you go pick these items up. That might be a good idea for you to get the material items that you need.

To a counselor/social worker. Find one that will help you with the struggle of choosing to be a teenage mother.

Your situation is extremely difficult. Having someone other than your friends and family to talk to will be one of the most important things you can do for yourself and the baby.

try posting on craig's list in your area...go to craigslist.com and go under the baby and kids section and then say that you want baby things for free and explain your situation. You may get individuals to donate them to you. Also, on craig's list you can buy these items used for cheap...not sure if that is an option for you, but wanted to let you know it's out there.
