I am interested in getting her into modeling, like ads or commercials. No runway, baby beauty pageants. I have a phenominal photographer who is planning on compiling her portfolio within the next few weeks but what steps do I take from there?

Go to a couple of agencies in town with pictures you plan to leave there. Put them in a fairly nice folder. Some agencies will require an appointment others will say just come in and drop them off. They will tell you if they need the pics in a different format such as a CD or if they want you to make composite pages...but that is getting too far ahead.
Have 3 or 4 different type photos, head shot, 3/4 shot, full shot. All different clothing types.
As far as what type of modeling you want her to do...that is totally up to you. If you don't want her to take a job you don't have to accept it. The agency will decide what type of model she is and they will assign her those types of jobs--but you never have to take a job you don't want. Most child modeling is print and video or commercial, so don't worry too much about that situation. Also, most modeling agencies will not ask you to put her in any pageants anyway.
Here is some unsolicited advice... be careful about how much money you are spending on photos. Modeling agencies do not expect you to spend a lot on professional pics of kids...because Modeling agencies require updated pics to show their clients. Kids change so often it is very expensive to keep them in pro shots.. You have entered the loosing teeth portion of your childs life...some agencies even want to have pictures of those changes.
And yipes...don't listen to the other people saying it will totally screw your daughter up. It can if you let it go to far. But it can also be a confidence booster for her as she matures into a young lady and woman...and confident woman rarely let themselves be abused or taken advantage of.

How about you wait about 12 years, let her decide if she really wants to be a model, and then let her live her life?
