Don't know exactly how many, but I heard reference to the Yanks doing it against the Red Sox twice before....once in the 1940s, and again in the 1950's. I know the Phils had one against the Florida Marlins, maybe in 2000 or 2001. It pretty much killed the Marlins playoff hopes that year.

There aren't many 5-game series in today's game, so they'll be few and far between. Longer series used to be more common, and a 5-gamer has definitely happened. The Yankees have done it before - one example is a 5-game sweep they had of the Chisox in June of 1964:
