Everywhere you see stupid shirts that say "gothic queen" or "punk rocker" in like, target or limited too or something, when its just people who listen to country or pop music buying them, trying to be something that they aren't...they say they hate that stuff, so why do they wear it?

Dear~I was a punk in the 1980's The real ones.
Any ones appearance is what they create to inspire others to react. From Goth to Preppy or Hip Hop.

Now the reality is most of people need and want attention and the don't care what type it is. Since most care more- then you realize its not the look its the people's judgment of them by their own appearance.

Watch the Breakfast Club & St Elmo's Fire- its goofy movies and its a pretty close view of what really happens.

That was my reality as well. Its not "the look" that is the real issue. Its how you want to be accepted as a special person in a real world that you will be conformed into soon enough.
Understanding is not acceptance. Acceptance is most important.

Best wishes.

The color black is negative and hot I suspect in the summer, the hair that is dyed black looks awful the clothes are tacky they look like something in a cartoon and the make up make Goths look like a freaks. overall Goths look like losers and Dead people I know why don't you people get an identity, instead of try to be something your not. When i see Goths I think of how confused you all must be.

The definition of goth is : A member of a Germanic people who invaded the Roman Empire in the early centuries of the Christian era.
Why don't people understand that. And i think all kids that wear all black and go woe is me have issues and they seek attention cuz they have no love from their parents or others. Everyone today is a poser, why not be what u want to be and wear normal ****, "oh look i wear a striped polo shirt and khakis , i must be a preppy boy." Or im so emo, look at my darkness...and sadness. It just needs to stop.

While I was still in high school, Posing had just become a sport....... Too many people lettered in it and the world of marketing to stupid teenagers took over. So lets all go listen to fall out boy on the local pop station :)

I've never seen someone say they hate goths and then try to emulate them. :S

I don't hate goths, but I DO hate how they claim to have an independent streak and hate all of the "normal" people for looking exactly the same, when they end up looking just like every other goth.

If you want to be TRULY different, try to look as normal as possible, but wear ONE thing that's insanely out there. (like Cat-in-the-Hat hats back in the day *lol*)

Its a psychologic thing. You outwardly hate something while you subconciously love it to death, but lie to yourself by telling yourself otherwise while you actually end up supporting that same thing you "hate". It's basically FRONTIN. Its done all the time with Hip Hop culture too, and the military. Many people hae condescending ideals towards the two, but dont even realize that its all around them.

You know, it's so cool to be a goth/punker/rocker, that other ppl, who aren't, pretend they are just cause they think it's cool! Of course, they don't like punk/rock/ music, theyre all fake! But this is worse : For example, i know a girl, that yesterday was, you know, "a pink girl" and today is a "bad rocker/punker"! Ha, ha, that is funny! i asked her which is her fave band and she told me "cradle of filth" but when i asked her what song...nothing! :) so, this is the true...fake ppl!

Maybe they are not trying to be "goth" [notice the quotes?] Maybe they are just trying to have a wide range in clothing or maybe they are trying to find stuff that they ultimately feel the most comfortable in. Ever think of that?

thats their way of making fun of "goths" they wear the clothes and try to make them pissed off. but people always say that im "goth" i just like wearing the color black its one of my favorite colors and what if i am "goth" what do u care its my life not ur so shove it and people that think "goths" r weird really r just insecure. they say that "goths" r stupid and u should be normal then y would they care about what others look like (dont think my name is weird because i hang out with "goths" they r my friends)

I don't hate 'em as a matter of fact I have some good friends who are, but I am not. As far as stores are concerned they are trying to profit off of something they see as popular (in an underground kinda way)
