I think there is a certain day each month when the garbage people collect big items, such as dryersm washersm refrigeraatots, ovens, dehumidifiers, microwaves, and probably air conditioners.call your garbage company...

You must take it to your local recyclers as it is considered a pollutant. There is Freon in air conditioners and it must be collected and discharged before the unit can be disposed of. There is usually a charge or 5 or ten dollars to do this.

List it under free stuff on craigslist (www.craigslist.com). You'd be suprised at how many people are willing to take garbage off your hands. Sure beats paying disposal fees!

AC units may need special disposal fees since they contain freon. That varies by location.

Most counties have locations where construction items/garbage can be disposed. Contact your local govt. for your location (hopefully). Since A/C units might have gas loaded in them, they have to be properly processed for disposal to avoid an environmental hazard. If unproperly dumped, the police can track you down with the serial number and charge you.

Check to see if there is a recycling center in your area,an AC unit
