I had a good experience with monster.com in my last job search. Post a resume, na dmake it searchable by anyone. I got so many calls for jobs and I rarely applied to any before they called me. But I have a lot of customer service experience, a whole lot!
What do you have experience in? What area are you in? Sometimes you have to get creative. i used to live in this little town and it seemed to me like the jobs available went from migrant farm work to CEO, and not much available between the 2. So i moved....:)
I don't think this answer really helped you much.
Message me and we'll figure something out.

I understand what you mean. I used to work through contract/temp agencies as well. I was not hired on either. I suggest trying www.hotjobs.com and www.craigslist.org. They sometimes have listings that differ from careerbuilder and monster. I, personally, seem to have the most success with craigslist.org. It is regional, so it will have more listings around your area.
I would try to go to a career center around your area. I have found that some offer free resume critiques and workshops that may help.
Try to network by asking relatives and friends you know if they know about any administrative/clerical jobs at their current companies. I have gotten a couple of phone interviews this way.
You may have to go out of your region to find a job...if there are not that many admin/clerical jobs in your area. It is a fairly common job type, so I do not think that is the case but you may need to expand your region of interest.
Good luck.

You don't say why you're unemployed or what your skills are; but if you have bad references, low skills or a poor personal imange you will have a difficult time landing a job.
Here's some ideas:
First - try snagajob.com.
Second - have someone look at your resume and put a professional slant on it.
Three - register with at least 3 temp and 3 perm agencies. You're not getting the coverage you need.
Four - Look in the local papers and apply for jobs. You would be surprised how many employers do not post jobs if they advertise them.

For l l/2 years, I've been through what you're going through. I've been through the "temping" wringer, too. I, too, was searching for an administrative/clerical position. Then, I discovered Team Careerlink. It's free through the government. After that, I've gotten three major and excellent jobs through them!!! You need to log on and put your resume on their website before you can search jobs with them. The nice thing about them is that you can specify how much money you want to earn! Another good employment website is jobservice.com. Indeed.com is a job website that combines all of the job websites into one website--like a big conglomeration. Another one you could try is Dice.com. Good luck!

Maybe you need to have someone revise your resume. Or change the name to administrative assistant as opposed to something like clerical or secretary. Look through the newspapers and talk to people. Word of mouth is always a good way to go.

Yeah stay away from non-profit organizations cause they can screw you over and get away with it. When you get an interview, act positive and at the end when they ask if you have any questions, request material about the company, they like that. To the company it shows you are interested. Stay positive. Good luck

my advice is stay away from agencies, parasites the lot of them..try local papers and get an up to date cv. most companies have a direct to HR facility on email. so email your cv and lie a bit. my current cv says i've done volunteer work, by that i mean i once helped an old woman across the road. lie lie lie lie but make sure you can back the lies up.
