Im having trouble finding a free downloadable version of the v-cast cd on the internet, does anyone have any idea where I can find one?.. and if not do i need this cd to sync the phone to the computer?

You do not need to spend the big bucks. All you will need is the card that fits your phone and media player 10. Then get a card reader if your computer doesn't come with one. Download the tunes you want to save on your computer (walmart has great ones for 88 cents, get a gift card at Walmart) Then transfer your tunes to media player 10, transfer it to your SD card then put the card in your phone and sync it with your phone. My daughter paid BIG bucks and never uses the stupid VCast CD.
