You can end up on a short term exclusion followed by an interview with parents to make sure that you will stick to the school rules. break them again and this happens again. As this continues over a number of months information is gathered against you that can be used for a permanent exclusion after being interviewed by governors. The best thing to do is to rebel by adapting your uniform rather than changing it completely. They will get you in the end

Depends on the school policy in place. Most schools will not let a student go on field trips if not in proper uniform. Most students just get sent home to change, or get suspended for a couple of days. It is important that students follow dress codes, it makes life easier on them in the real world.

seems so,my son was asked to leave 3 days in a row for not having the 'proper' uniform, they only sent the letters out on the 2 Aug about the new policy and they went back to school on the 17th??? Still out to this day as i cannot afford to buy everything new...thought school was about education, not what the kids wearing.

Yes, you can get excluded. Its a school rule!
Schools have a uniform for a purpose. It is a representation of the school you are going to, and also to reduce the rich kid/poor kid syndrome. Its much smarter and kids bend the rules to the n'th degree anyway. Easier for girls to bend than boys though!

Certainly in England & Wales, a secondary school can legally enforce a school uniform, and hence can refuse attendance to any pupil innappropriate attired.

Tell your parents to write a letter to the principal, asking for a copy of the school districts written policy that supports their decision.
If what they are saying is not written in their policy, then they are lying and they can't do it.
If the school does not respond to the letter, send another letter to the superintendent stating that the school did not reply to you.

I go to public school and I have to wear uniform. On school trips, if I don't wear uniform, I can't go. If you wer jeans at my school, you get a two-hour detention. It all depends on your school. As you can see, my school is pretty strict, for a public school.

some schools are much more strict than others and they all take different actions. Consult someone whos already been to the school (or is already there) to see how much you can get away with!
