Indeed. The US gives a tiny fraction of 1% of GNP -- almost unmeasurable. And MOST OF THAT goes in salaries to Americans for doing studies on what other countries should do for those countries, or what American construction companies (the rich ones, like Halliburton, Fluor, Schlumberger and the like) could do to make money.

Charity begins at home, you say?

Well while you're laughing away there chuckles let me just ask you, precisely where do you think all the aid we give to other countries comes from? the tooth fairy!!, we could take that money and put it towards the debt, granted it wouldn't eliminate it but 10 billion here
20 billion there and pretty soon it adds up to real money. I for one think we should stop all foreign aid, for whatever purpose, if they want aid I suggest they go to China and we'll see what they get.

You could cover what we use in foreign aid by cutting all the pork barell stuff out of the budget. Probably ten times over.

Why laugh? Any economist would tell you it is one of many factors that keep the U.S. (or any other country) in debt. i.e., If you owe someone $10.00 but you give someone else the money rather than pay back the debt, you still owe $10.00.

I'm pretty sure about 50 percent of the things said on here were things that Rush or Savage said today... then people run on here and repeat them like they are trying to "save us from liberalism"... but the thing that they don't understand is... Rush Limbaugh has secretly replaced their conservative ideology with lies and half-truths... and they look like idiots when they say these things out loud...

don't know why you find that so funny. when I retire, there will be no social security benefits for me, but there will STILL be money being sent overseas to "aid" foreign countries.
