Those wristbands would probably not work in your case, since you need to be attached to a conductor. They are primarily used when working with computers or other equipment that is sensitive to static electricity.

The simplest solution that I have found to this annoyance in the office is to remember to touch metal objects as I walk around the office. Eg: If I need to get something from the group printer at the far end, I touch my doorframe, a few filing cabinets along the way and then repeat the sequence on the way back. If I forget to do this, I end up getting a nasty shock. So, just remember to discharge the static electricity buildup often.

Static charges are very dangerous for electronics. They are worst if the humidity is lower than 50%. U can stop it from hurting, for instance u slide in a car,use the key holding it firm in the hand touch the key to the metal ,u may hear or even see the spark but if u hold the key firmly it want hurt.

The rubber soled shoes may be the problem. You are so insulated that the static charge builds up to a "shocking" level. I would try leather soled shoes.
