Indeed, NAT GAS is traded on commodity exchanges, so you can buypass stocks/securities.

The three named stocks in the other answer are all good for your purposes.

However, should you want to attempt to "purify" your play, but still have an exchange traded security, you might try "TRU", but remember it fluctuates up and down with the payout of its cash distributions.

Further if you really want to go along this path, take the time to do the homework, and find out those ROYALTY or INCOME trusts that specialize in NAT GAS.
PVX is a mix, but you will have to find a site that specializes in Royalty trusts or Income trusts. Many many income trusts can be found on the TSX, but be careful, Canada is the Wild West when it comes to accepted accounting standards, so make sure any security is at least traded in the US, even if it is a Canadian security, because in the USA, they have to submit to SEC jurisdictoin if they want to trade on any market in the USA, even the BB or Pink Sheets.

Good Luck

I think the best way to play Natural Gas is to buy nat gas stocks on dips. I don't have 5 favorite, but my 3 favorite are:

Houston Exploration (THX)
El Paso (EP)
Williams Companies (WMB)

There is no need to mess around with stocks; there are natural gas futures on NYMEX:
