Candle magick - burning candles, usually of a specific color, as a form of spell work. I think it's a powerful form of magick and have had good results with it... The point where the candle burns gives a good visual association to the energy being released. We use different colors because each color has an association (Green for money, pink for love, red for lust, black for protection - although these are not set in stone and most folks have their own associations they follow for each color). Scents can add to the spell working (lavender can help aid spells for calming and de-stressing, for example). I use whatever color I feel best applies to the working I'm doing at the time... Candles are usually prepared by "dressing" them with oil. It helps to "charge" the candle to your specific intent, which is very important because the intent is the whole point of the spell - What you are trying to achieve... Color association charts are all over the net if you look for them - and most are based on the personal preferences of the person doing the spell working. As for the Deities, I usually use a silver candle for the Goddess (moonlight) and a gold candle for the God (sunlight)... I always let the candle burn down and then bury anything that's left. There's no set rule for this... Herbs and oils can heighten the energy released and aid in manifestation of whatever it is you are doing the working for. Yes I use them and the easiest way is to first dress the candle with the appropriate oil and then roll it in dried crushed herbs to coat the candle. Of course, if you make your own candles, you can always add them to the wax after you've melted it. Hope this helps...
