The Nina
The Pinta
The Santa Maria
were sailing vessels threeeee!

Nina (official name the Santa Clara) and Pinta were small ships called caravels; Santa Maria a larger round hulled ship called a nao. Only the Santa Maria had a deck and carried around 52 men; the others carried around 18.

Columbus first went ashore on San Salvador in the Bahamas.

The Santa Maria ran aground and sank on Christmas Eve 1492 in Hispaniola (now Cap Haitien).
