I am currently running a duplicated copy of Windows that denies me any updates (specifically service pack 1 or 2). Thus, my on board usb ports (that are in fact 2.0) are only recognized as 1.1. Can I install a usb 2 pci card w/ drivers and have windows recognize it as 2.0? (and not 1.1 like my on board ports).

Even with the license duplicated, I can still have the sp pack installed? I have dloaded the sp 2 via torrent, but I am weary of using it... Any advice?

alchemist you are wrong... I already spoke to msi and they stated that it IS in fact the lack of a service pack installed that is causing my usb to only be recognized as 1.1. Tech support stated that the security catalog on their site is only intended for those having problems with a pre-existing service pack installed

You can still get the updates, as well as SP2. You just have to configure Automatic Updates, and wait for them to download. It will take awhile, but you'll get them.
You can actually go to Microsoft.com, and download SP1a, wich should give you what you're looking for in the way of support for USB 2.0.
Also, anytime I've tried to install third party drivers for USB 2.0, I've ended up with instability issues. Best off to get drivers that are WHQL certified.

All you need to do is go to your motherboard manufacturers website, and download the USB driver for your motherboard. Updating Windows has absolutely nothing to do with USB speeds.

Check out your motherboard manufacturer's website for USB 2.0 drivers.

You need to contact the manufacturer of the USB adapter, via their website to download drivers... not neccessarily the motherboard manufacturer!
