Doesn't have to be just about Arthur, can be about medieval times or anything to do with the knights. Looking to bulk up my DVD collection!

John Boorman's "Excalibur" (1981) is one of my all-time favorite films, period. Just a GREAT telling of the Arthurian legend, with terrific performances all around, including Nigel Terry as Arthur, Nicholas Clay as Lancelot, Cherie Lunghi as Guinevere, Helen Mirren as Morgana, etc., etc.

Towering over the entire production is Nicol Williamson's absolutely INSPIRED characterization of Merlin. Wow! What a VOICE that dude had.

Also look for appearances in smaller roles by a few actors who would go on to MUCH bigger and better things: Gabriel Byrne (Uther Pendragon), Liam Neeson (Sir Gawain), and Patrick Stewart (Leondegrance).

I like The Sword in the Stone-OK it is animated but so funny.
Excalibur is very good.
Timeline, the book is better
Kingdom of Heaven

Not an awful lot of King Arthur movies but quite a few books.Read-The acts of King Arthur and his Noble Knights by John Steinbeck. The Crystal Cave,The Hollow Hills and The Last Enchantment by Mary Stewart, mostly about Merlin, but where Merlin is Arthur is not far away. Enjoy if you have not already read them.

I agree with Excalibur, Monty Python, Robin Hood- Prince of Thieves, and Robin Hood- Men in Tights (Men in Tights is so funny!). And as a Disney fan, I also like The Sword in the Stone and A Kid in King Arthur's Court. One that hasn't been mentioned yet is Merlin starring Sam Neill, which originally aired as a mini-series on TV, but is now on DVD as a movie. It goes hand in hand with the Mists of Avalon, but I personally think it's a better production. Some others that I know of that I liked are Lancelot, Joan of Arc, and Braveheart.

Not a great production, but you may enjoy the story in "Mists of Avalon". It's told from the viewpoint of Morgan la Fay.

(It sounds like I need to see Excalibur)

I really liked Clive Own in "King Arthur", a 2004 release.
