Best of luck.

Virus writers are an egotistical lot. They want to infect as many computers as possible, so you go after Windows, which sits on about 90% of the computers in the world. Now that Apple is using Intel chips and can run Windows via Bootcamp or other software, it will be interesting to see if they remain pretty much virus-free.

Apple computers do not run Windows OS. They have had all or the vast majority of there software problems fixed many years ago. Unfortunately, Windows has not even come close to fixing there software like the MAC has done and it will be a long while before it catches up.
For the most part, even though the MAC OS is still less popular than IBM, it is still a far superior and stable Operating System.

because their market share is so low <3%, that people who write viruses want to get noticed, so they go after windows based systems that have > 95% market share. This way they get their virus out there and it can do the most damage.

I am sure security holes in Mac OS X would be exposed if virus writers wrote the same volume of viruses for that operating system as they do for Windows.

There are comparatively fewer Apples than PCs so malicious virus writers don't target the Mac like they do the PC so that the virus has a wider target.
Apple Macs also do have virus and are not immune.

it rather is extremely a typical false impression. Macs don't get viruses everywhere on the brink of as often as abode windows computers do, yet they do get some. the rather actuality of the concern is that Mac and abode windows computers are 2 thoroughly rather some issues. a pandemic that works on abode windows won't artwork on a Mac, and vice-versa. there is not any such ingredient as a multi-platform virus. it rather is a typical information that abode windows has a plenty bigger industry share than Mac, and by using this, those that write viruses will aim abode windows computers so they are able to impact greater human beings. it rather is in basic terms no longer functional to jot down a pandemic for Mac. So it rather is not that Macs are impervious to viruses, it rather is that Macs are impervious to abode windows viruses, and there are in basic terms some Mac viruses obtainable, meaning you're in basic terms plenty much less in all danger to locate one.

Not many people use them as much as Windows PC's. Therefore, virus writers don't really have as much point making viruses for Macs than for PC's, as writing viruses for PC's makes a bigger target.

But soon, if everyone switches to Macs, then Macs will get viruses too.

Why make a virus that effects 5-10% of the computer market when you can make one that will effect 85% of the market.
