Lack of places to live...so many homes were destroyed. There is a big housing shortage here and on the Gulf Coast of Mississippi. FEMA has trailers yes, but the problem is that there is also a shortage of spaces for these trailers. There are problems getting utilities in, septic systems, etc. They can't just park the trailer anywhere and expect the person to live in them. Also the places such as apartment buildings, etc. are having a hard time getting the proper insurance since the cost of insurance has sky-rocketed. So therefore, the rent has tripled or worse. It isn't as simple as it would seem to be for many reasons.

Would YOU want to go back to a place where you lost everything and weren't taken care of in the aftermath?? It's not like New Orleans and the gulf area aren't at risk anymore either.

would you go back to that cesspool? they are prime targets for be in inundated with water again if another hurricane rolls through. personally i don't want my tax dollar going to bail out a city that will always have the same problem. the best thing they could do is move the population out and drown the city. let nature take its course.

Because they love their lives even more. Unless you lived through a hell like that you can't imagine what they went through, and for most of them, still going through.

Home is wherever your family is.

Because what they love is GONE, and returning to the area will not make it return. They have started new lives in new communities.

Most have nothing to go back to.I wouldn't want to go back to the 9th ward either .If you had ever been in the 9th ward you would understand their hesitance to return to that hell hole.

Probably because they don't want to have to rebuild and then go through this all over again.
