Mac Mini, bought new last month. Intel chip, 1GB RAM. Ultimate Doom for Macintosh CD inserted and contents read, but Tiger won't let me pull the Doom icon onto the desktop, saying it is "incompatible with this system."

Having an Intel version wouldn't affect it. Intel Mac programs are Universal Binary, which will work on PowerPC systems such as G4 and G5.

Older programs will run on Intel Macs with the Rosetta emulator built in to Tiger for Intel.

That said, I'm not sure why it's doing that. The only thing I can think of is that you have integrated graphics on the Mini instead of an actual graphics card, and some games don't like that.

Could be the game is for the Mac with intel and you have the G4 or the other way around. If you have the intel mini and the game is for a G4 chip.
