I went to my GP 18 months ago to get tests to determine why i wasnt concieving, i was given some routine blood tests and then was referred to a specialist at the fertility unit at a hospital. In all this time of waiting for appointments and then getting further tests, nobody asked me or even mentioned the importance of Rubella. I changed my GP a few months ago but i have to think that it was my first GP's responsibility to check this. Only now when im to start fertility treatment has this come up as one of the clinics screening tests. I had to go to my GP to get another blood test and im waiting on the levels coming back to see if i had it as there is no record in my file. If i need to get the Rubella injection now, it means i will have to delay fertility treatment for 3 months. Im soooo mad.

Dont misunderstand, im not complaining that i need to get it but i feel that i should have been told a long time ago and its adding waiting time that didnt need to be.I so wish i had changed my GP a long time ago as none of the doctors in that practice were any good. The doctor i have now is good and i dont hold him responsible as he has came into this in the middle of all the tests and has been nothing but helpful.

My Gynecologist checked me for Measles, Mumps and Reubella as soon as I told her I was thinking about TTC. From what I hear some doctors check and some don't. It seems to me that it is a good thing to check for the resistance to diseases like that. Better safe than sorry I guess.

do not problem about a aspect..that is totally universal to get slightly ill after any shot or vaccination as a results of what a vaccine is. The shot is properly an exceedingly weak version of measles, mumps, and rubella. Your bodies immune equipment fairly well-knownshows and destroys the MMR, at the same time as also construct up your bodies preventive skills in case you come back in contact with any of the three in a while.

Rubella may be symtomless or mild, but the danger is children passing it on the pregnant women. Rubella can cause massive damage to the foetus - which can result in deafness, blindness, heart problems and brain damage.
Normally all children now have the MMR jab which protects against rubella, your doctor probably presumed you had a jab in your childhood.
Rather be gratefull that your doctor is taking this precautionary measure, then you contracting rubella and having a baby that can't have a fufilled life.

I had 3 early miscarriages, 1 pre-mature birth and lost a baby on Aug 11th this year at 21 weeks and after the loss of my daughter I was told that I needed to have it. They explained it to me, but I was really upset, so I don't remember what they told me. I know for certain that I had the shot in childhood because my mom was a stickler about getting all of our shots and getting them on time.
