I know what you mean. If were dying of cancer and someone cleans my toes and gives me a facial, that really doesn't change much. I'm still gonna die and I'm still gonna look butt ugly by the time my heart stops beating.

I have not had any experience with the show. but these are the facts.
people who are down on themselves because of their looks are just self conscience of what everyone else thinks about them. Sure if their appearance has dwindled and their so unhappy with their look sthey take the easy way out and go under the knife. Some surgery works and some surgery doesn't. Sure it boosts the self esteem of the person who had the work done because now they feel they are prefect. If you're not happy with the looks your parents gave you go for it BUT consider the risk factors FIRST.
The makeovers that happen on TV are done by surgeons that do the stars, no by the "Dr's" generally listed in your local yellow pages. All precedures whether they be breasts, noses, chins, lipo, or tucks the complications during & after the surgery are great risks. (Unsanitary tools, botch jobs, infections, and leakage.) You need to do your research before putting your LIFE in someone elses hands.
Will it make you happy, maybe it al depends on the persons individual results. Does it make your life better. Only time will tell but the person inside is the one who is responsible for taking control of their destiny and not the other way around. Good Luck

I have never experienced a makeover or know anyone who has. However, I would like to give my input. :]
That kind of beauty is superficial and will not last. It would probably make you happy for a couple of months (maybe even a year), but life is not all about how you look. There are other things that will being real happiness, family, for example. Besides, everyone grows old. Everyone gets wrinkles. It's just a part of life.
But if something about you does bother you to the point that you can't stop thinking about changing it, then perhaps you should...? It's up to you.

An extreme makeover may boost your confidence enforcing more focus on your new look, self esteem, and personality. An extreme makeover is a great way to begin a "new Beginning"; especially if life hasn't been to nice to you. But, in the process of your extreme makeover, only make good, reliable, and positive changes because you shouldn't become to stuck-up that you forget the ones who loved you before "ThE eXtrEme".

There's a show on sometimes called Life After Extreme Makeover. You should try to find out when it's aired and watch it.

I haven't participated in those kinds of things nor would I ever want to, but I don't think it truly improves your life.
Plastic surgery comes with problems and it's only a quick fix - it's NOT permanent. Implants can harden and mess up in a few years requiring expensive re-touching by a plastic surgeon.
I doubt their life gets better because they're just pretending to be what they're not. They're just fake and living a fake life.

An extreme makeover may cover the flaws and imperfections of the outside but it does nothing for the flaws and imperfections on the inside,,,the mind, the heart and the soul...........

I applied for both & got an interview with EM but they said I didn't qualify. I know it would've changed my life. My dad broke my nose when I was little then my ex did it again. There are also small burn marks they could've removed, covered, graphted, something!

well, i've never been on those shows, but i'm sure that it would be a huge difference. my friend used to be really fat & then she lost 120 lbs & her whole life changed. the only problem is that she still does have the insecure fat girl complex from time to time.
