About a week or two before it died (just shut off while at a light) it would kind of "skip" when idling and the rpm would drop for a split second.
All of the lights and electronics work inside...
There's gas and oil in the car.

Forgot to mention...
-The check engine light came on the day before, but not on the actual day that it died.
-About a month or two before it died (when idling) it died while i was driving on the highway... it was different though... my speedometer jumped when I pressed the gas and eventually it just cut off with no radio or lights...
It turned out that a terminal on my battery came loose (no clue how) and once fixed and charged it worked fine up until the recent problems.
Could that be related?

There are a variety of possibilities.
1. Timing belt broke. Worst case scenairo, but the broken belt basically would cause an engine to just die. Easiest way to determine is to take off the distributor and have someone crank the car. The rotor should move. If the rotor does not move, you've got a broken timing belt.

2. You are getting no spark. There is a variety of reasons for this. Your ignition module went out. (Small electrical part, but expensive). Your Coil has gone bad (though typically not the case for it to die instantly). Your distributor shaft broke, rare, but it could happen.

3. You are getting no fuel. Your fuel pump died. Your fuel relay switch broke. Your fuel pressure regulator gave out. (less likely than the first two in #3)

4. Your injectors are not firing. (Typically Fuse has blown)

These are the more common reasons for a car to just die.

I'd say it's your spark plugs, very simple problem, just go buy some new ones, cheap too.
