I looked on line but couldn't find an answer.

...in other words, are they found anywhere else on Earth? I looked on line but I couldn't find an answer.

in the information that i found it says that they are commonly found around lake michigan and lake huron in michigan.

It appears that at one time a large glacier stopped just north and south of South Haven, Mich. There is a great deal of rock/stone found in this area. Walking along the beach, I've often found small Petoskey stones. A good place to look if interested.

Yes. Petoskey stones are found on beaches and sand dunes in northwestern Michigan (lower peninsula).

I've lived in Michigan my whole life and have never found a petoskey stone. Maybe it's all a lie :-P

Although being the state stone these may be hard to find or even spot. The stones would not be glossy or shiny as you see in most pictures. These would be be dull rough dark or Grey. To get them to gem quality they would need to be cut, tumbled, and polished. But yes they can be found on the shores of Lake Michigan.
