Do NOT book through US or UK websites for accommodation in South Africa - you WILL get ripped off. Try these sites for hotels in South Africa (very reputable chains and they usually have specials running):
www.southernsun.com (biggest chain, they took over Holiday Inn)
www.courtyard.co.za
www.proteahotels.co.za
www.bid2stay.co.za

Each hotel chain has different hotel gradings (e.g. the cheapest hotels on southernsun would be the Garden Court hotels). Make sure your hotel is in the area you want to be in (i.e. tourist sites, access to transport, etc).

For accommodation in London, US and UK websites are fine. I often use the following websites:
www.expedia.com
www.hotelclub.com
www.octopustravel.com

Before you confirm your booking and want to know more about a hotel, try www.tripadvisor.com for user ratings of hotels (they sometimes have links to other websites with cheap deals for the hotels you're enquiring about).

go to www.priceline.com. I got a great hotel in the SoHo area of London for $100 per night. Good Luck!

I think you will definitely find good rates for London on www.travelocity.com or aavacations.com.

For South Africa, you might go to Virgin Atlantic Airlines or British Airways website as I believe both offer air/hotel packages for that region.

Good luck!

It depends on what sort of hotel you want. Maybe an international chain, though, like Holiday Inn?

www.lastminute.com is usually quite good for UK hotels. Or you can also get some good rates on www.wotif.com.
