Were there any consequences for the 'friendly witnesses'?

Of the 59 people that Senator McCarthy publicly accused of being Communists (that's right, there were only 59, not thousands as many would have you believe), EVERY SINGLE ONE has been shown by recently (within the last few decades) declassified American and Russian (Soviet) documents to have been members of communist organizations with connections in Moscow.

So, in my opinion, there need be no apology.

Americans apologise!? When has the US Government ever admitted it was wrong? So no, probably not.
