Oh yeah . . . and two things
1) Sometimes it may look like the trojan is quarantined or that it is acctually gone, but on your next bootup/reboot - gasp! It is still there - the best bet for you in this case is to go to Symantec (www.symantec.com) and see if they have a removal tool or instructions as to how to 'manually' remove the trojan. The reason why they come back like that is commonly there are registry entries that will go out and look for the site that put the trojan on there to begin with when the system finds out the trojan is no longer there - system files can do this too . . . tricky little buggers (hackers) - what a pain they are.
2) This brings me to point #2 - if you are really trying to be the deviant one and uninstall limewire in hopes your dad won't find out. Well I don't know how computer savvy your dad is or how industrious he is at finding software that has been installed . . . so I'll tell you this just in case. I'd say most (if not all) software leaves entries in your registry that are obvious most of the time and cryptic other times. I'm betting you that I or any other registry savvy folk could find out that you had limewire installed just by looking through the registry. What you need to do is find a registry cleaner that will remove 'orphaned' entries - this should remove all traces that you had it installed.
Good Luck!

Don't get scared.people always get viruses. This is like you popping your cherry with computer viruses. You can use AVG(the program sucks but does the job.this is what I used the first time I got a trojan virus).A really good program to use is ewido. They give a 30 day trial for free and after that you have a choice to buy or they turn off the automatic updates and resident shield(both are needed). But someone told me you can compensate with spybot.I personaly use xoft, but had to pay $25 for it.But it is a quality program and I don't regret it one bit.It found over 1250 threats the others could not detect. But the free ones are AVG and superantispyware. Most you have to pay for.AVG is real good at trojan virus scans but misses others. And if it is a trojan virus, use avg. With that still running and installed, keep searching for free ones that are better.I list some sites for you.And you can check my questions on yahoo answers to get advise from others.Because I caught a new virus opening a page from some jerk on yahoo answers and that is when I removed AVG(could not clean the virus I recieved, but ewido did the job) and ended up buying xoft.(download the free or trial versions below)(you don't have to take it to a computer expert.Don't let people scare you.they are right with the removal of the limewire.do this in your control panel.and go to remove/add software.then download a spyware program.tghe trouble is finding the best one.just like looking for anything else.you want the best quality.but avg will def get rid of the trojan viruses.download avg, do a scan, and move them to the virus vault.after that delete the viruses in your virus vault.it really is that simple.but AVG sucks and after you clean the trojan viruses you should really look for a better program)

If I were you I would go to nortons site and see if it has any of the updates deal with that specific trojan. I would be honest with dad and tell him that you need his help to get rid of it and may have to call a specialist to take care of the trojan. Until the trojan is gone dont leave the computer for a minute. And if you notice that the computer is running slow. Look at what is running in the back ground if you have any programs running that you did not start you can stop it thru your task manager. But best answer is get dads help and seek help from a tech support like Best Buy, or computer geeks. They are better at removing virus and trojans they do it for a living.

Go to the Norton site and do the online virus/security checks --they are free and can most likely remove the offending virus. You might also download and install Ad Aware & spybot s & d --both free programs with regular updates. Run them regularly, then run norton. should fix the problem. the program for Limewire need to be removed immediately, Kazaa is another that will give you headaches with similar problems.

Uninstall limewire and then install McAfee Antivirus, run it and it will get rid of the trojan. Make sure you have the latest version. Norton doesn't get as many viruses taken care of as McAfee does.

Uninstall Limewire and use your Anti Virus to contain the Trojan. Say that you know nothing about it.

you're of direction an sensible and articulate individual. i could not wager your dad's causes - if he needs a woman in his existence, there are thousands of them - why a stinky, loopy one? yet i'm more desirable in touch about you than your dad. you've been actually killing your self to get his interest and attempt to exert some administration over a chaotic project. i'm questioning why, for someone as expressive and articulate as your self, the communication between you and your father is so unfavourable. basically positioned, have you ever requested your dad those questions you're asking us? have you ever requested him why he's finding out on loopy over you, because it truly is what he's doing. you want to have an exceedingly severe, sit down talk with him. tell him that you're literally not attempting to diminish back him right into a nook, yet when she is going to be any element of his existence, then on your own protection and sanity, you won't be able to stay with him anymore. Your dad will make regardless of decision he makes, and also try to be okay to no longer enable your self be destroyed through regardless of that decision is. you've plenty to furnish and also you would possibly want to have an excellent existence the position you call the photos in a fashion it quite is healthful, rather of volatile to you, yet you're literally unlikely to get there ravenous your self in a fruitless attempt to get your dad's priorities instantly. If he hasn't figured those out through now, the sorrowful actuality is that he would by no skill do. on the right of the day, you won't be able to administration your dad, and also you'll't replace him. the basically individual you may replace is you.
