Elvis was part of a time when big band was dying and rock was rolling in, and he had the best of both worlds? Also, he could sing gospel, country, blues, and everything in between. He had and still does, appeal across all ages, beliefs, and races. I can't imagine anyone matching his success ever again. Even the Beatles don't come close to his diversity in all areas.

I don't think so. I have a better appreciation for Elvis thanks to Sirius radios Elvis station. He could sing several genres of Music, he was an innovator, charismatic, humble, good looking and talented. I just don't see anyone having all those qualities in their raw form again.

I must disagree about the Beatles. While he could *sing* all kinds of music, he *wrote* very little of it and is thus less of a creative force than Lennon/McCartney, who wrote almost all of their songs. They did classic ballads (Yesterday), hard rock (Helter Skelter), psychedelia (Revolver and the White Album), quasi-religious music (Eleanor Rigby) and broke a lot of new ground.
Had Elvis not made another record after returning from the army his place in rock history would still have been secured, whereas the Beatles just got better and better as the 60s progressed. Elvis forgot what he was best at and wasted most of that decade on mediocre movies.
So I would submit that we have already seen as great an entertainer as Elvis - The Beatles - but are unlikely to do so again.

There will never be anyone as big or as important as Elvis, The Beatles or Dylan. All three changed the course of popular music forever. Buddy Holly would have been in that group as well, if he didn't die as young as he did.
I do think you are wrong, however, about your comment about the Beatles and diversity.

Right time, right place. The myth grows and grows. I guess it depends how old you were when it is happening. Elvis was cool, The Beatles were cool. M Jackson was cool. Prince can do it all. Madonna has never left the spotlight. Hey, who cares just sit back and enjoy their music and watch their films. Life is too short.

There have been before Elvis and there will be again. The thing about Elvis is he invented a genra that became popular. He wasn't nessarily better at performing in that genra than many of the other people after him. He just road a wave of fame from his creation.

What do you mean ever? There has been, and there is. He was great, but music didn't stop and start around Elvis! Get a grip!

There have been other great entertainers. But, I don't think any will ever be as great as Elvis. Elvis was hot!! He could sing. He could act. He was the whole package deal!! I can't think of another who has the complete package.

you recognize what , one in all my prominent bands are the beatles , they won't in any respect take place returned , nor will elvis , or mj . yet can a band or a singer be as floor breaking? .... particular! it ought to take a whilst however. human beings elect to take heed to alot of disposable crap now a days. so i dont see lady gaga, jonas bros ect.. being very dizzying .

Well that depends on whether you think he was the greatest entertainer or not in the first place.
His biggest success was in the U.S.
Although he is recognised worldwide, he is not regarded as the best in every country.
